Circles For Peace

We are excited to share news of a community project with you, and invite you to join our expanding circle of participation and support.

Circles for Peace is a Vermont grassroots non-profit organization that is based on the philosophy that inner peace and inner strength can be restored by witnessing the rhythms and cycles of nature.

Our first project is The Burlington Earth Clock.

We are building The Burlington Earth Clock on land provided by the Burlington Parks Department at Blanchard Beach on the bike path just north of Oakledge Park (a popular spot for watching the sunset).

Plans include the development of an educational curriculum for K-12 in the areas of science and math, art and history.

We are currently fundraising to complete landscaping, install information signs and the 6′ granite sundial in the middle of the circle.

Your financial contribution is crucial to this project. WE ARE ONLY $8,000 AWAY FROM OUR $80,000 GOAL!!
The City of Burlington has offered a $2500 matching grant as support.

38 participants shared an extraordinary evening of wonder and transformation, with over 30 of those present choosing to walk on the coals.

Thanks too for the many helpers on logistics and hosting who made everything run so smoothly and safely.

From I-89 take exit 13 to Rt 7/Shelburne Rd. Turn right (North) onto Rt 7. Go through two traffic lights and turn left at the third one onto Flynn Ave. Follow Flynn Ave to the end, Park on the left and walk North up the bike path 400 yds.

First stone circle on your right…you can’t miss it…

It’s a gorgeous Saturday morning and I am taking the plywood version of the sundial to the Earth Clock for the Day. Come down, bring the Kids!

It has been one year since the stones were put in. To celebrate we made some human art. Everyone thought happy thoughts as the plane went overhead!

During the Art Hop we set up a plywood version of the proposed granite sundial to test.

Bring the Kids! Best works of the day will be added to a gallery here on the website.

Bill will have a temporary Analemmatic sundial set up.
